ChatGPT vs. Claude
Late last year, ChatGPT took the world by storm, but new AI assistants like Claude are emerging as contenders. I've been testing both tools - here's my breakdown of the key pros, cons and differences.
ChatGPT Pros:
✅ Conversational abilities and natural language processing allow human-like responses. Reinforcement learning helps mimic real conversations.
✅ Wide range of plugins expand functionality e.g. Zapier, Wolfram.
✅ Available in over 150 countries, gives it a broad reach.
ChatGPT Cons:
👎 Training data only up to Sept 2021 limits current events knowledge. No internet access.
👎 Prone to AI "hallucination" where it confidently provides false information.
👎 Need to pay $20/month for full GPT-4 features.
Claude Pros:
✅ Claude 2 has 100,000 token limit, allowing more complex coding prompts.
✅ Training data up to Dec 2022 makes it more up-to-date.
✅ Free to use with no subscription required.
Claude Cons:
👎 Currently only available in US and UK limits reach.
👎 Lacks versatility of ChatGPT's plugins.
👎 Also susceptible to incorrect responses.
While ChatGPT remains dominant, Claude shows promise as a free alternative. But both still have progress to make on accuracy. It's an exciting time as AI assistants evolve
