Why you might need Twitter (X)

You might want to resuscitate your X account.

Here's why.

Your social media accounts are about to become WAY more important than you realize. Both personally and professionally.

I predict the ONLY way we will be able to identify deep fakes - digitally manipulated videos or images that appear incredibly realistic - (for a while, anyway) will be to determine whether or not the video/image was posted on an official, established, verified, OWNED channel.

That will have to be the bedrock of our PR, crisis, image and reputation management strategies moving forward.

You want to be able to say: "If it's not on my/our official channel, don't believe it. It's not me/us."

Period.

🌟 Your reputation is the most valuable asset you have. How are you protecting it online in the age of AI? 🌟

Start by building, verifying, and tightening up your social media infrastructure today.

☝🏻 Unpopular opinion: Yes, you left X for valid reasons, but consider that you might still need eyes on the platform to make sure someone hasn't taken your place and created verified accounts as you (which are much, much more accessible now). Think of it as keeping an eye on your credit score to prevent fraud, but for social media).

Maintaining social media accounts may be part of a robust digital security strategy moving forward, whether you use them or not.
